Hough Ear Institute is enthusiastic about 2016! Our ongoing research, education, and humanitarian efforts will bring a lot of hope to people all over the world who struggle with hearing loss and we are anticipating a great year.
Our focus for 2016 is very simple: Hough Ear Institute wants to help people hear today while searching for a cure for tomorrow, so that all who have ears will hear.
One of the projects we are most excited about is our continuing work involving the noise induced hearing loss pill. We completed testing through Phase 1a and 1b of FDA clinical trials last year and will be moving forward into Phase 2 this year! Our wish is to see this pill available to the public in the not-too-distant future. We expect it to help those in military settings and manufacturing businesses who are predisposed to gradual or sudden noise induced hearing loss due to loud surroundings. We often talk about how great it would be to help those who are working in these environments and would benefit most from this technology.
Another aspect of Hough Ear Institute is helping those who need our assistance today. While our research focuses on the future, many hearing ailments are treatable today thanks to our partnership with the Cochlear Implant Clinic that Dr. Hough founded. Patients of all ages and walks of life are receiving cochlear implants and other implantable devices that are introducing them to a world of sound. We’ve come to find that most people are unaware of the broad range of devices available to treat hearing loss and have made it a point in 2016 to familiarize our readers with all of them. We will be sharing videos and literature throughout the entire year in an effort to spread this information to those who need it, whether for themselves or someone they know and love.
If you are in the Oklahoma City area, we would love to invite you to our Hearing Health Fair at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center which will be sponsored by INTEGRIS, Cochlear Americas, The Cochlear Implant Clinic and Hough Ear Institute on Wednesday, March 9th from 9-11am. We will have surgeons, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and certified auditory verbal therapists at your disposal to answer any questions you may have regarding your hearing health.
We want to cure deafness worldwide, one patient, one disease at a time and in 2016, we hope to make positive steps towards making that dream a reality. We want every person to have the ability to experience life through sound and live in a world where no one misses a birdsong, skateboard whirl, or child’s whisper.
Hough Ear Institute is here to help. Please call or email us today with your questions or to make a donation so that all who have ears will hear.
