At Hough Ear Institute, we talk to people all the time who have served in the military and now suffer from tinnitus and hearing loss. We are reminded every day about how people suffer from injuries within the auditory system and how this suffering contributes to a person’s career, family, income and mental and physical well-being. Because it is not a physically noticeable injury, many people suffer in silence and it is difficult to explain to people the true realities of the problem. Our concern is for the person, not just the facts. We have a strong desire to find ways through research to help people with their hearing loss.
Below is an illustration of how wide spread the problem of hearing loss and tinnitus are among veterans as well as the costs associated with the issues.
