Wei Li, MD, MS
Wei Li grew up in Hubei, Central China and graduated with an MD and MS from Tongji Medical College of HUST. He also has an MS in bioengineering from the University of Oklahoma. He did his graduate research at TJC and OU before coming to work at HEI in 2010. He is currently working on researching hair cell protection, regeneration, and neurite regeneration. Wei is a vital part of our current tinnitus research.
He is married to his lovely wife Jiayi (pronounced jī-yee) and they have 3 daughters, Isabel, Melody, and Charlotte. When he is not at HEI, he likes to travel, hike, rock climb, and spend time with his family and friends both here and abroad.
Don Nakmali, BS, MS
Medical Research Engineer
Don was born in Thailand and moved to Oklahoma in 1981 to attend the University of Oklahoma. He graduated with a BS in electrical engineering and an MS in biomedical engineering. After joining Hough Ear Institute in 1994 as a medical device engineer, he has played an integral role in the design and development of HEI’s middle ear implantable hearing device. He is now engaged in auditory physiology studies of animal models at HEI and middle ear mechanics research at the Biomedical Engineering Lab at the University of Oklahoma.
Don is married to his beautiful wife Kate, and they have 3 children, Alyssa, Mark, and Michael. In his spare time, he enjoys reading Christian books, taking outdoors walks, and spending time with his family.
